13th Charity Poker Run Set for
Memorial Weekend
The Swamp Fox Boat
Club of Eutawville will sponsor the 13th Annual Charity Poker
Run on Saturday, the 24th of May, on the southern shore of Lake
Marion. Club members invite you to join them on this date for a day of fun
on the water and later for music and prizes on the grounds of Marker 79
Marina in the Vance area.
Participating Marinas and boat club
members will have entry/registration forms for only $15.00, which includes a
free t-shirt, if purchased before the 18th of May. Marinas participating
are: Lake Marion Resort and Marina, Mill Creek Marina and Campground,
Lakeside Marina and Resort, Rock’s Pond Campground,
Marker 79 Marina and Bell’s Marina. The only marinas selling
entry/registration forms from May 18th to noon on May 24th will
be the Marker 79 Marina and Bell’s Marina. Entry/Registration forms must be
signed or stamped by someone at each marina, then by 4:00 p.m., check in at
the Swamp Fox Boat Club tent at the Marker 79 Marina landing.
Any mode of transportation may be used to
get the entry/registration forms signed. At check-in, participants draw 4
poker chips; the total is recorded on the entry/registration form and filed
numerically, highest to the lowest. The top prize of $200.00 will be awarded
to the participant with the highest poker score. A 50/50 drawing will also
take place and great door prizes will be awarded.
Beginning at 3:00 p. m. Jeff Barnes will
be providing music and entertainment with Marker 79 restaurant selling hot
dogs, hamburgers and cold drinks.
Proceeds from the poker run go toward
boating safety, first responders of area fire departments and other
community service organizations. To date the club has donated over
$55,000.00 to these charities.
